Pen Tool Character
For my character I wanted to have something colorful, crazy, and different. So I came up with Trippy the bear. I wanted this piece to be set in the '60's when everyone was a hippy and didn't have a care in the world except world peace. So as I was brainstorming with sketches and looking at other pieces of art that was done or related to the '60's Trippy was born. Trippy is a slang word that means not-necessaryly in your right mind. As you can tell Trippy has his tongue sticking out, is pink, and has bloodshot eyes. I don't think I have to tell you that Trippy isn't in his right mind. Also to add to what inspired this piece is Miley Cyrus. We all know that she can't keep her tongue in her mouth so she had part in the design of Trippy. The background is tie dye because it brings color to the piece instead of just the color of Trippy's ears and eyes. It also gives the affect that Trippy isn't in his right mind but thinking of other things. The peace sign was the symbol in the '60's so I thought adding that would give it more abstract instead of just Trippy and the tie dye.
I know this project was suppose to be done with the pen tool, but to be honest I wasn't feeling the pen tool. I was having trouble making curves for the face, eyes, and ears of Trippy. So instead I just used the Ellipse tool to make shapes and the pen tool to make straight lines. I only used the pen tool twice. for the line that connects Trippy's mouth and nose, and then for his eyebrows. But other than that I didn't really use the pen tool, only ellipse, brush, and eraser tool.
