Film Critique on the movie Epic

When watching the Disney movie Epic I couldn't help but notice the amazing usage of colors, such as the greens, browns and other earthly colors that were used in the film. I liked how the movie was set in another world known as Moon Haven, and that it is home to tiny forest people known as Leaf Men. The plot of the story, I thought, was very "rich" once the issue was noticed. The plot for the film was to protect the pod which held the life of the forest. The pod was to be protected by a "stomper" (human) who was shrunken done to two inches, or the height of the Leaf Men. Since this was a Disney movie I think the younger generation would enjoy watching this film because it has a lot of color, comedy, and an actual story that is being told from tiny people. I've already seen this movie but after watching it a third time I caught more things that were being said or done by any of the characters. I actually enjoyed it more, when I saw it the third time. I thought the film kept everyone in the room interested and made a few of them laugh.

There Goes the Neighborhood

I couldn't finish my house but it looks pretty decent for a starter on photoshop. The story behind this house that I have created from imagination and a little inspiration is when I lived in Palm Bay my house was backed up to a preserve. In the preserve or the "woods" which is what my sister calls it, there is a house that blends into the surrounding trees. The only way you can actually see the house is on Halloween night when the fog is low and the moon is high. If you were to go into the woods on Hallows Eve the house is told to sneak up on you. A light on the inside would flip on and you could see someone on the inside. The next day the house would disappear back into the woods and wouldn't reveal itself until next year, on Halloween night.

Custom Vehicle

I wasn't entirely sure how to do this project I watched the videos multiple times and still didn't understand it. I used two cars instead of five and created the one above them.

Magazine Cover

When I was creating my magazine I was going off of what I had imagined in my head, but the concepts that I had used from the article that I read, and applied to my magazine cover, was inspiration (which is Justin Bieber, he is my idol), planning in advance (hence the sketch), typography (I used two different fonts, and three different colors), and the last concept that I used was guides and templates (I surfed the web for some ideas on how the big shot magazine producers set up there magazine, and then used those ideas to create my magazine cover). Also when designing my cover I tried to incorporate things that tie back to Justin in some way, for example the masthead (Risky Business) people in the industry call Justin risky business because he puts his career on the line while producing music, also the first cover line (Justin Bieber from "baby" to "heartbreaker") relates to Justin because his style of music has changed over the years.

Branding Your Team (Logo)

In my sketches I mainly tried to stick with the name S.E.A.L.S (Swaggy, Extraterrestrial, Alien, Lemon-flavored, Students). While sketching these I was having difficulties with coming up with a logo. So I was working with an alien and a seal and created something having at least some characteristic of each individual. Personally my favorite is the last one because it's original, it's not to flashy or has to much detail, and because the eyes of the seal makes the logo stand out. When creating sketches I stayed on the originality line so anything that is done here wasn't taken from another artist. (I didn't create a logo on Photoshop).

Comic Strip

It's important to save some selections because if something were to happen to the desktop, and didn't save your document you would lose everything and have to start over again. But if you were to save your selection every 5 minutes and then the desktop stopped working everything that you have saved would be there when you opened it again. In this project using the brush tool was different because in this project you could and shading to the characters, and then highlights to make it look like there is some light source happening in the comic. In the other projects the brush tool was basically used to hide or reveal any part of the character.

Eddie the Donkey

Some of the techniques I used on this assignment that I could have used for my Thor poster was the lighting to make the whole picture look like it belongs with all the other objects in the picture. Another technique would be the masking tool, that makes photos that were placed on the background look like it was there all along. And last but not least the tool that was used to make Eddie look like his rear end is hidden in the ugly barn, I could of possibly used to make my Thor poster look more realistic.

Movie Poster

I layed out my poster I think in a unique way. I was trying to follow my sketch but it was difficult trying to find exact photos of some characters. How I set up my poster is by putting Thor and his people on the left side and then have Malekith and his army on the right. I darkened the background (hence the title the Dark World), and I had the poster set up in Asgard. I wanted my viewers to notice the title of the movie first because then the viewer some what will know what to expect. My sketch influenced my design majorly because the final sketch I drew was what I based my poster on.

Color Theory Collage

I chose the color blue because associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. In my collage I have a New York City background because I love the big cities like New York and LA. A blue butterfly because I love butterflies, the Dallas cowboys because my family like them and Ohio State, blue movie theater chairs because I go to the movies a lot, blue music note because I live and breathe music, a blue soccer ball because I play soccer, Universal Studios because it's like my second home (I have seasonal passes), and a blue piano because I love the piano (I don't know how to play it but I would love to learn how).

Animals, Initials, Masking and Textures

I came up with my animal by first seeing what I have to work with then I started rotating each of the letters to were it looked like something, in my case an ant. My initials are "C" "B" and "H", so the head of the ant is the "C", the body is the "B", and the legs of the ant is the "H".
Well photo shop is new to me so I learned that you can use the painting tool to create hair for the picture you are creating, I learned that to be able to rotate a letter or something you have to Free Transform them first, and I also learned that photo shopping isn't easy at all. It's something that you have to practice at to be good or even great at it. But while getting good at photo shop I really want to learned how to edit a photo were you can edit someone or something into that photo. For example you have a picture of a celebrity that you adore and you want the picture to look like you met them, now that would something that I would want to learn to do:)
